ISDE Greece Day 1
ISDE Greece Day 1
The USA Women's team finished Day 1 in great shape! They are 2nd place overall. Maria Forsberg finished 4th and Nicole Bradford was 5th overall. Back up rider, Annell Allen is racing on the Carter Engineering Club Team. She finished with a time that would've put her in 6th place in the ladies division. Although Amanda Mastin struggled on a few of the nasty up hills, she finished in fine shape. It appeared that 3 ladies have houred out on Day 1.
The team used teamwork so that they could get through the extremely rocky and snarly terrain. Mandi and Nicole have experience and shared their knowledge with rookie Maria. Maria has long legs and was able to assist Mandi when she was stuck on a hill. This is where a good team can shine by using each others strengths for the betterment of their team.
Nice work ladies! GO USA!

ISDE Greece Day 2 & 3
The USA can be very proud of their women riders! They are really overcoming some tough obstacles and they are still going strong. After day 3 they are solidly in 2nd place! And remember it isn't over until it's over!
Day 2 was tough for Mandy Mastin. She is a very short gal with the heart of a lion. She struggled up some tremendous mountain sides and yet she never gave up. Maria, Nicole and even back up rider, Annell Allen, assisted her. Top USA woman rider for Day 2 was Maria. She was smoking on the motocross track (special tests 1 & 4). She beat or tied a number of our men riders.
Day 3, Mandy was back on track with her times with the new course. But it was Nicole who suffered a set back with a wreck and broken handle bars...You can't keep Nicole down! She finished the day. Even Maria had a tough time today. She was battling with a male rider on the trail. She kept trying to get around him and he wouldn't let her. Finally, she went for it on a road section and he forced her off the road. This was right before check point 3 (our midday check at Parc Ferme/paddocks). She came in with no skin on her arm, was sick to her stomach and said that when she wrecked the bike fell on her back. We patched her back up and off she went again. These woman are unbelievable.
Stay tuned for more tidbits from Greece!

ISDE Greece Day 2 & 3
The woman's final moto was great! France's Ludivine Puy Alonso cleared all the jumps and ran off with first overall in the Final Day 6 Moto as well as earning the overall for 6 Days in the women division - She is an amazing rider. Finishing a mere 35 seconds behind her today after the 7 lap moto was USA's Maria Forsberg. Third was France's Audrey Rossat only 20 seconds behind Maria.
All the women did an excellent job and the crowd here just adores them! I think this is one of everyone's favorite moto's.
Team final standings are #1 France, #2 USA, #3 Sweden and followed by #4 Germany in the 2008 Women's World Cup.
USA women all received medals: Maria, GOLD, Nichole, Silver, and Mandi, Bronze. Annell Allen faired very well against the men in the C-1 class and received a bronze medal. A large percentage of riders in the C-1 class were unable to finish the event.
